Sofa Wall

When I first started working at the Lobby two years ago these tapestry panels were in the clearance bin! Since we had just moved back into our home less than 4 months before I was in desperate need of decorative things that were big, cheap, and in my new colors. This tapestry fit the bill perfectly and I eyed it for several weeks till my payday rolled around and I was able to buy it. A quickie hem job around the edges, a trip to Walmart for a cheap rod and ring clips to hang it. I had wall art! I still love this tapestry...

But it needed a little more oomph so I added some bullion fringe to the bottom and swapped out the cheapy rod for a nicer one that matched my window treatments.
A muslin casing sewn to the back and bye bye ring clips.
This is what she looks like now but I'm wondering if I should add some draped cording looping across the top to match the fringe? I've been debating that idea for months now...

Then a few days ago I got the call I live for... My boss said I'll make you a deal on the clearance aisle stuff... I quickly grabbed a buggy and off I went... I got three buggies full of stuff and paid less than $10 for it all. My discount applied on top of his incredible deal. I got these three wall keys and was wondering if I should paint them black and hang them on either side of the tapesty? Maybe one on the left side and two on the right staggered? Whaddya think? Opinions anyone?

Please don't look at my scarred up wood floor *sigh* When removing carpeting the renters had destroyed we discovered wood flooring! It's all scarred up and discolored, the carpet had been glued down and I used the most noxious smelling stuff in full protective gear to scrape the old glue off the wood. Hard to believe we owned this house for 14 years before we made this discovery. I guess in a way the renters destruction was a blessing in disguise. Cause I love wood floors even discolored and scarred up. One day we'll refinish them but for now I just live with them as they are. Ooops sorry, where were we? Oh yes, the keys? So what do ya'll think? Paint them? Hang them? Forget them?

You know I am never any help with your decorating I just like to hang out and see what others say. That tapestry is beautiful and I like the bottom fringe.

I can't wait to see your raggy garland.

You are so lucky to work there!!!

I say paint them and hang them. But maybe not by the tapestry. I think the tapestry is really pretty and doesn't really need anything else.

Maybe hang them in a gouping on a different wall?? I saw those keys there the other day! :)

3 buggy's for less than $10 oh my gosh...makes me want to get a second job at HL.

I love the tapestry just the way it is but the cording would add so much more. I have a tapestry in my hallway and I did wrap cording at the top and then let it dangle on the sides. It really added that extra special touch. I love the idea of adding fringe!!

The keys look great and they may look even better black. I'm kinda into black these days myself. I'd put them in a grouping somewhere else though as your tapestry looks beautiful right now. The keys would take away from it.

You said you were asking for opinions...I really gave you mine...sorry!

Have a great weekend!

Just like everyone else I am so JEALOUS that you work at HL! Actually I'm jealous of anyone who even has one nearby!!!

The keys are really neat! Have you thought about painting them black and then taking moulding, mitering the moulding to make frames and then frame each one? You could do them side-by-side 1, 2, 3 w. each key having its very own frame. Just a little idea!

Thanks for popping by today! So nice to meet you!!

OK, my 2 cents...

If you hang the keys with the tapestry, add the looping to match the fringe. Don't paint the keys unless you pant the rod that the tapestry is on, but I like them the color that they are. They look 'rich'. Love the colors! And love what you have done.

Love the floors!

Great ideas Ladies! I'm so glad I asked what ya'll thought, I was hesitant to hang them on the tapestry wall but wasn't sure and now I know to leave that wall alone. I will also get the decorative cording soon to wrap and drape across the top of it, hopefully I won't make a mess of it! The keys definitely need a paint job as they have a few chippy bits (rigors of life on the clearance aisle I guess). I love the idea of framing each one!

I got 2 of those keys at my HL. They were on clearance 90% off - mine were 3.49 each.
I do plan on painting them and am looking forward to seeing what you do with yours
