Not yet...

Sunflowers remind me of home. My childhood home. Back in Kansas. All those years ago. The garden my Daddy planted every year, including several rows of sunflowers. How I loved those sunflowers... Now my home is very far removed from the home of my youth. My people are all gone now, the old homeplace long since sold to another and barely recognizable the last time I saw it but still the memory remains upon my heart, each time I see sunflowers I see the little girl in braids running across the field to hug her Daddy after the school bus dropped her off. Or I see sister and Daddy sitting on the porch spitting shells from eating sunflower seeds. Or Momma sitting on the porch swing in her apron snapping beans from the garden with our dogs at her feet. I cherish these memories for they reside within me and no other. If I should forget them does that mean they never were? I shall not think of that, no, not yet, for I do still remember after all these years.

Oh, I love sunflowers. My sister decorated her room in sunflowers when we were teenagers! I will always remember that! Dark green walls with a 12 year old's mural of flowers everywhere....goodtimes! :)

Hi Kitty,

What a great story about your family. Sounds like growing up in Kansas was wonderful.

Beautiful post Miss Kitty and beautiful memories. Thank you for sharing those with all of us. I too love sunflowers and remember my Paw Paw planting them. We never ate the seeds but I remember standing under those huge flowers. They seemed like a giant and I a small ant. They do bring a smile to my face. Thanks for reminding me of those days...

I do recall Folly Beach from college daz. ;) This trip we spent time at Sullivan's Island.

Love the sunflowers as well! Nice you were in Charleston this weekend too.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Kitty, one photo is not showing up for me. I have them on a site that I had problems years ago and dropped my 'pro' membership. I only have 'snapshots' on there now and have not added anything new in at least 2 years... I may just have to copy them and reload. Thanks for letting me know that you could not see them. Most people would not take the time.

Kitty, thanks for your kind words. All of DD's clothes (except of one preemie gown is on a doll and a couple just hanging in the Beatrix Potter (guest used to be nursery) room are cleaned in ivory dish washing liquid, wrapped in acid tissue paper and stored in acid free boxes. I used to have people want to buy the clothes off of her. She is a little tomboy and will not even wear the boutique type clothes. So I just live with it. It is funny though. Anything that is smocked, french hand sewn or embroidered I have saved. I tell her she can give the little aline dresses, boutiquish type clothes away. She said, "no mom, we need to save them for your grandchildren..." LOL! Because I made it for her, she still does not want to give it away.
